COUNCILLOR JACK CLARK
 

I was born and raised in Gore Bay, completing my schooling here and then ran away to join the Air Force.  Four years later after graduating from Royal Military College with a civil engineering degree I began my first career in the aerospace engineering field with stops along the way in North Bay, Ottawa, Germany, England and Portage La Prairie.  After 20 years in the military I retired a Major and moved on to career number two with Manitoulin Transport initially starting in North Bay.  After a year in North Bay I returned home to Gore Bay and spent the next 19 years working in the linehaul dispatch organization.

 
In 1982 I married (councillor) Betsy Robinson and we have two children, Richard and Jessica, who are out making their way in the world.  Since returning to The Rock I have been involved in numerous activities around town and the Island including one term on School Board, three terms as president of the local Rotary club, multiple years on the executive for the curling club, assignor and referee for Western Manitoulin minor hockey and am currently working to re-do the two tennis courts at the waterfront.
 
To date I have found my time on council to be both enlightening and challenging and an excellent opportunity to give back to the community which I grew up in and am now pleased to call home.  I look forward to the rest of my term and hope that I can contribute to the growth and betterment of Gore Bay.
