Gore Bay has a long tradition of exceptional community theatre going back more than 50 years. The Gore Bay Theatre is housed in our Community Hall at 52 Meredith Street.

Molly Sweeney by Brian Friel
A drama, with comedic moments, Molly Sweeney tells the story of a blind woman since birth and her world before and after an operation to try to restore her sight. Written by one of the great playwrights of the 20th century Molly Sweeney uses an Irish storyteller’s art to create an unforgettable theatre piece, painting scenery and rousing emotions with nothing more than the simplicity of beautiful rendered words.

On a First Name Basis by Norm Foster
Written by Canada’s leading comedic playwright the play tells the story of David, a successful novelist with writer’s block and Lucy, his housekeeper of 28 years. As she gets ready to end her shift, David invites her to stay and have a drink with hilarious results.
